iSTORE PRICE GOUGING
So this is the scenario, a store buys or is supp**** a product for let's say X amount of Rands and then out of the blue along comes this thing called Covid-19, that forces them to shut their doors for a few weeks during which time the dollar, as it does has a few ups and downs. As soon as the store is informed they're allowed to reopen they immediately use the excuse of the fluctuating dollar to jump their pricing (bearing in mind this is stock they bought at the OLD lower exchange rate - so by way of example the iMac charger I just bought had increased by R200.00!) which at best is disingenuous (yes...increase the price with the NEW order at the NEW exchange rate but don't use it as an opportunity to make money off your customers and increase your profit questionably), at worst it represents illicit specualtion. The only reason I discovered the jump was that their old price tag (of R200.00 less and dated March 2020) was still on the packing along with the new price of R200.00 more dated June 2020...and yes, the way the 'jump' was explained to me was that it was because the dollar had gone up...SINCE they bought it...how does this even make sense? When customers are already paying a premium for your brand and you treat them like foolish cash ***s?
