IStore “fixing” an OBF unit while I wait for days with no proper update
I bought a brand new iPhone 11 Pro 256 gig from iStore Mall of Africa on launch day (27 Sept) . I was there at 6 a.m. for 7 a.m. Left with the phone by 8 a.m meaning I am one of the first South Africans to buy this device. During the weekend I noticed the phone has call connectivity issues: it was matching a ‘scratching’ loud sound during the first few seconds of the call and it would immediately drop the call. Happened all weekend and on Monday (30 Sept). I took the phone to iStore Mall of Africa and replicated the issue to 2 technicians who saw the issue. I was told the phone needs to be taken to other technicians at the repair centre to diagnose and run tests. Which was odd to me there is nothing to test as I proved the call issue at the iStore. They opened a job card for this brand new phone to be taken to their repair centre. Now I am unhappy. In 2 full days the only update I have recieved is , “phoned shipped” , “phone received by service centre”. Seriously in 2 full days that’s all you can tell me? With vodacom they would replace the phone with a brand new unit through OBF on the spot if I can replicate the issue. Why do I have to go through this on a brand new phone? I am dissappointed and frankly regret buying the phone through iStore. Fixing a brand phone at a service centre when customer has to wait for days is pathetic. It’s not my fault the phone drops calls.
I want a brand new phone I waited long enough for no update.
