ISTORE CANAL WALK - *********

I went to Istore Canal Walk on 11 January and not just wasted over 3 hours of my time, but was also almost ****med.

I was at the same store a day before and one of the friendly technicians, Riezaah, did a quick evaluation on my Iphone 13 ProMax and offered me R13500 trade in value. I went back the next day (with my mom and all the necessary paperwork) to do the trade in & upgrade to the Iphone 15 Pro Max.

When I got there, I had to wait for almost an hour to be helped by James (who does the phone evaluations - Riezaah wasnt on duty upon my return). Firstly, I have asked him to please handle my new screen protector with care as I am aware of them removing the screen protectors while doing the evaluation. Of course, he instantly cracked my screen! He saw that I was unhappy. He did a VERY BRIEF evaluation of not even 5 minutes and also offered me R13500. I was happy to proceed. Thereafter, I got up with my phone and went to the back with it. He came back after a few minutes and told me that he has “bad news.” Apparently my screen had a very small chip at the bottom of the screen (which was not the case, but rather on the phone’s cover) and therefore dropped my value to R3400. I immediately said I would rather not proceed with the trade in deal and asked him politely to replace my screen protector - which he refused to assist me with.

While unhappily waiting another hour for yet another VERY ARROGANT consultant to assist with the upgrade of my contract, a technician came to me saying: “Mam, I have heard about your phone drama, but I have a guy here who would like to buy your phone from you. He buys Iphones and we are currently fixing 5 of his phones’ screens.”

He then mentioned that the guy would offer me an amount closer to R13000 (and not the ridiculous R3400) and that he would gladly come and Chat to me. I agreed to speak to the guy (he was sitting at the technicians’ waiting area). He offered me R6000 for my phone and was persistent that I should give him my number. I insisted to rather take his number as I wanted to get second opinions. The guy informed me that he has a shop in Salt River and buys & sells phones.

Eventually we were seen by the upgrade consultant and he was extremely arrogant and rude and didnt want to accept any of our documents (all legal documents) as proof of address.

The next day we went to Istore Waterfront - they were extemely helpful even though we had to spend another 2 hours there as their upgrade system kept on bombing out. They kept us informed of everything happening and apologized for the inconvenience. They were also more than happy with the legal documents as proof of address! They have assessed my phone and also offered me R13500 and did a FULL DIAGNOSTIC TEST!! I continued with the trade in.

I am only posting this review now as I have only received the funds a few days ago (Istore Waterfront had issues with their system, including the loading of banking details for payments but the assistant manager, Precious, phoned me 2 x per week to keep me updated)

I am disgusted with Canal Walk’s branch and will NEVER support them again. This is not the first time that I have been treated like this at their store - I even have friends complaining about their terrible service and attitude!
