Horror story at iStore
Wow… So much for paying thousands of rands for **** service.
I took in my iPhone 11 earlier this year to get the battery replaced. I’ll make a very long story short by just saying after waiting 7 hours for the so-called “quick” replacement, they damaged the screen and I had to wait for a replacement device.
Got my replacement device about 1 week after, and that’s where sh*T hit the fan. All calls drop after 30 seconds and you can see how the mobile signal gets lost. Apple Store 1 told me that it’s my sim. Did a sim swop, no… still drop calls. Fast forward to the last iStore in Centurion, phone gets booked in. I need to wait 1 hour for new software to be installed. After an hour, signed in to my device. Calls drop…
3 days later, phone is ready to be collected. I said I’m not going to leave the store until I can hold a few calls for at least a minute. First call drops.
It’s now 2 weeks later. They phoned me multiple times to say that find my is still active after I received an email to confirm it is deactivated. Spent 20 minutes on the phone this morning with Apple support (the international one). Consultant confirmed that my find my is NOT active on my Apple ID. I only have one Apple ID…
Lesson learned. I will not replace my battery at an iStore again, nor encourage anyone to buy Apple in South Africa.
Service sucks!
