Gift card service OFFLINE

Tried to purchase a new watch using an iStore gift card. Their gift card service has been down since last week Wednesday 4th September. How can a company that represents Apple have a gift card system that is offline for so long. I believe they are struggling with ***** issues. Not my problem as a customer. Partner with a gift card company that has invested in a proper IT security system.
