Customer Service My ASS - iStore Cavendish
I am absolutely disgusted with the customer service or lack thereof at the iStore in Claremont, Cape Town. I went in there today (24 May) at around 2:30PM to make an inquiry for a friend who wanted to PURCHASE the iPhone 7 Plus. All I wanted was to find out if they had stock of the specific color. Nothing big. And if they did, it would have been a potential sale for them. It's not like I was going to purchase the device at the exact moment that would require them to do a whole lot of admin.
Anyway, I went into the store which was already very busy and every assistant on the floor was busy with a customer. I walked around the store, looking at the products and accessories for myself and decided to approach the counter where two females stood, just looking at everyone and avoided making eye contact with me. I wasn't going to ask them for help as I thought one of them would offer. I waited there for about 2 minutes until they were joined by another Apple employee (he looked like he could have been the manager). He was busy with a customer but glanced up and asked "Have you been assisted?" to which I rep**** "no". He then turned to his fellow employee and said "Don't you want to help this lady please?" to which she frowned and rep**** "No". He then looked at me, back at her and whispered something to her to which she just rolled her eyes and continued to just stand there looking at all the potential customers who were awaiting assistance. He looked at me and told me he will assist me in a minute to which I rep**** "No thank you. I'll take my sale elsewhere" and walked out.
1. I get working in retail is not fun and games. I've been there. You are not always happy and in the best mood and you get tired and moody and your feet hurt. I understand! But how could you be that rude and disrespectful in front of a customer? It's your job. And had she actually decided to assist me, would she have seen that it was just a brief query that would not have wasted any more of her precious time. 2. Well done to this lady on costing the store a potential sale. There is no possible way that I would ever recommend this store to anyone. Imagine? I was absolutely shocked at this lady blatantly refusing to help me, IN FRONT OF ME!
To this woman, thank you for the most horrific experience of my life. You've taught me that this would be the first and last time I enter this store. I'd rather drive to Canal Walk (the complete opposite side of where I reside) than deal with rude employees who refused to help me even though it's their job.
