Abused by the Apple Store

Before I discuss the details below, I would like to express my feelings around the matter. What is so deeply depressing for me is that Apple is a company I have loved. Anyone that knows me knows how much of an apple sheep I am, and how often I express a deep love and appreciation the company. I am writing this on my favourite tech product ever made, the iPad Pro 10.5 inch, which is still working beautifully, even after 6 years. And now to be abused in such a way by a company that i had such a deep reverence for is demoralising and depressing on a level I struggle to express. I feel helpless against the workings of a bemoth megacorportation and its inhumane ********* dealings with essentially helpless individuals.

On Friday the 27/10/23 I took my iPhone 12 mini to the iStore located in gateway mall to change my battery. I paid R1200 for the service and received it back in the same day. 2 days later I noticed water in the lenses of the camera. The iPhone 12 mini is meant to be water resistant. Over the 3 years that I have had the phone, I have had no issues with exposure to water whether it be in the rain or accidentally spilling water on it. This water damage was only noted 1 day after being repaired at the Apple Store.

They have over the course of the last weeks repeatedly told me they will not be repairing or replacing the phone or refunding me the monetary value of losing the phone and instead have repeatedly send me quotes for repairs at R10 600.

This is deeply morally and ethically wrong and deeply demoralising to know that a company can break your product and then not take any responsibility for it.

I have recommended Apple to so many of my colleagues, friends and family. Many have bought iPads, iPhone and MacBooks at my suggestion and discussion. I had always thought embedded in that discussion and decision was a sense of morality. This has been a uniquely debilitating experience.
