African Pride polluting their dam onsite with drain cleaning chemicals

Spent the afternoon having lunch at the Irene Country Lodge (African Pride) - sat outside as the day was lovely. This has always been a lovely venue over the years. We have previously enjoyed the spa and wonderful functions at this venue.

During our late lunch, we smelt a very strong chemical (most unpleasant) and saw what appeared to be smoke coming for a pipe into the dam the ducks and geese are free to roam. We then went to investigate and one of the staff came to see the comotion. The manager informed us that the the kitchen was clearing the drains and apologised for the inconvenience. Yes it ruined our meal. What is of the utmost concern however is that this hotel group clearly has no regard for its immediate environment blatantly on a busy afternoon putting chemicals directly into the water which clearly negatively impacts the natural environment. They they covered the pipe with PLASTIC so as not to inconvenience the guests with the chemical smell. With the global war on waste and on protecting the environment for future generations, this is exactly where companies that blatantly pollute should not only perform community services to understand the error of their ways but should be fined heavily if not locked up!

You can walk from the Irene Country club to the dairy farm as well as to the Irene Country Club - sure this is equally as damaging (the hennops river through these properties as do others!)
