Atrocious Service, Lies and more...

I took a phone in to iQuick - Sea Point that was not starting up. They sent me a quote for R1250 for repairs and they they cannot give a guaranty on the repairs as it might not last long. Already a ridiculous comeback from them, wanting to charge you so such for something that may not last long. I declined the repair and said I will come collect the phone. I the get a whats app from Michael the owner of iQuick. The outrageous conversation as follows:

2018/03/08, 10:31 - (Michael - iQuick)‬: Hi Barry it’s Michael from iQuick I’m the workshop manager. I asked my girls to give me a chance to explain the repair required on your device. It’s a board level repair and the repair is in fact guaranteed

2018/03/08, 10:32 - (Me): Thanks but I just don't have R1250 at the moment for a repair on an older phone.

2018/03/08, 10:34 - (Michael - iQuick)‬: During the assessment process my tech inadvertently repaired your device so I’m happy to give you 30% off the repair. It would be a pity To undo the work done. 2018/03/08, 10:34 - (Michael - iQuick)‬: Let me know thanks

2018/03/08, 10:37 - (Me): That is actually unacceptable. If your tech did what they were not supposed to do then they should be help liable. undoing the repair could damage the phone even further and if I wanted to get it repaired at a later stage it could be even more.

2018/03/08, 10:38 - (Michael - iQuick)‬: Hi Barry, I’m playing open cards here. Some repairs need to be done to test if it works. 2018/03/08, 10:38 - (Michael - iQuick)‬: Removing the traces the tech made will not damage the phone at all. 2018/03/08, 10:39 - (Michael - iQuick)‬: And testing a phone before Letting a phone to see if the repair holds up is actually standard practice. 2018/03/08, 10:41 - (Michael - iQuick)‬: You are welcome to make a time and I’ll show you what was done and where the trace will be removed and how In front of you. Nothing to hide. Thought I’d just let you know where we sit with your phone

2018/03/08, 11:43 - (Me): Hi Michael. I have discussed this with a few people and including legal and have the following to say. 1.) First you tell me that your tech "inadvertently" repaired the device and then you say it is standard practice. 2.) Where in your terms and conditions does it say you repair the phone and then supply a quote. 2.) With the above said, what is the assessment fee for? This should cover the assessment of the device to know if it can be repaired or not. 4.) Initial contact via WhatsApp is unprofessional, but no need to phone now as WhatsApp will do.

2018/03/08, 11:44 - (Michael - iQuick)‬: Would you like to pop into the shop to chat over a coffee ? 2018/03/08, 11:45 - (Michael - iQuick)‬: When I explain the process you will have a better understanding. Apologies for the unprofessional WhatsApp message. I find it quicker and more effective than emailing.

2018/03/08, 11:56 - (Me): I don't need to pop in for a coffee. I am the client. I bring my phone in and pay an assessment fee. You tell me either you can fix if or you can't and finished. The fact that your tech has fixed the phone with out my consent is not my problem.

2018/03/08, 18:09 - (Michael - iQuick)‬: Tried calling you. 2018/03/08, 18:10 - (Michael - iQuick)‬: You can Collect the phone tomorrow. It will be the same tbe way it was dropped off. Sorry for being honest and upfront with you. 2018/03/08, 18:11 - (Michael - iQuick)‬: Also apologies once again for the unprofessional WhatsApp (which’s I thought would be quicker) 2018/03/08, 18:11 - (Michael - iQuick)‬: Have a good evening
