The following feedback is done as I believe it is important for any business to review, assess and give an account of the work they have done. Especially so in the Security industry where people hope to appoint knowledgeable, reliable people with integrity.
Unfortunately my experience with IPS security services Centurion does not pair with any of these business qualities one would expect, especially so after they have been recommended by Security Warehouse – a company that specialises in security supplies.
On Friday the 10th of November I contacted Ryno from IPS in order to ask his help with installation of a new Gate motor at my home. He was helpful on the phone after which I sent him an e-mail with the quote I got from Security Warehouse for the gate motor. I asked for his assistance in that should I pay the costs for the gate motor in his account, if he could then get it from Security House for me before he installed it. He had no problem in doing this and He then rep**** with a formal quote to install the motor at my house as soon as possible. On the 10th of November he also confirmed that he will be able to install the motor for me on Monday the 13th of November
The weekend we had to secure the gate and it was a risk which we had to manage manually and always kept it locked at night. We were however prepared to wait for the work to be done properly
On Monday morning early I forwarded the proof of Payment early to Ryno. I expected him and fortunately I would be at my premises the whole day and was not to concerned with when exactly he would be at our place.
The following is a brief account with headings regarding the events that followed
Unreliable Ryno never arrived and by late Monday afternoon I contacted him in order to find out what happened – why he did not come? He apologised and explained that he was in a meeting that lasted 3 hours and could eventually not make it. I accepted that although even then I was slightly agitated as courtesy would dictate at least a call from him to explain that he will not be able to make it. Despite this, I was happy with his promise that he would be at my place by 09H00 14 November
On the 14th he arrived and started installing the motor. Jean Pierre assisted him with this. He then advised me that only my newer remotes would work – remotes which I recently obtained for my gate motor. I asked him if it was not possible for my old remotes also to work as we have at least 7 other remotes for various people that need access to my place. He said this would not be a problem and went out to get another receiver. This however failed and he could not get the old remotes to work. He then said that he cannot resolve the problem immediately but will be back later in the day. I also during the course of the day put him in contact with another person who works on gate motors and who previously assisted me with this problem he was experiencing. By the end of the day I realised he was not going to return. I went and tidied up the gate motor as he left it all lying open, unlocked and untidy – which would have been fine as he was “about to return shortly”
Subsequent to this on both the 15th and the 16th of November despite his promises that he would come, he never did. On both occasions I had to call him as he simply never advised me of this. Telephonically he also advised me that he did not come right with the receiver for the older remotes and I accepted this.
IPS Security Becomes a liability to our safety as well as to our animals. The extent of his unreliability only truly becomes apparent when I phoned him early on the morning of the 16th confirming that he indeed will be coming. He explained that he just had to ensure his workers in Bapsfontein knows what to do, and then he will be at my place. I then stressed the importance of him coming that day as the gate motor has a problem. It involuntarily opens and closes for no reason. This is a problem that cannot be left unattended because 1) I have 4 dogs and they need to stay on our premises. 2) Security risk especially at night. 3) Given the fact that the reason for installing the new gate motor in the first place was because of theft, I was even more aware and at risk and could not just have a gate opening and closing for no apparent reason.
Finally calling Ryno late on the 16th of November I advised him of my disappointment. I advised him that I will be paying him for the work done but he does not need to commit himself to come again. This simply because I cannot believe in either his word, nor at this point in the quality of his work given what is happening with the gate motor. It also is quite obvious that he really was not concerned about my plight telling him about the problem with the gate motor. I needed no further proof or promise to understand that IPS/ Ryno van der Walt seriously has no concern with us. This sounds harsh but I unfortunately have no other tangible service delivery, work or action to have me believe otherwise.
I then resolved myself to contact another service provider despite this being further cost. The problem was resolved immediately by another service provider.
No Integrity It has also further come to my attention that he **** to me with regards to remotes for the D5 Centurion gate motor. After he installed the gate motor, and he left looking for the receiver, I realised that I did not receive two remotes with the new gate motor. I contacted him and asked him about this. He then said that sometimes they don’t come with these remotes but that he would get 2 for me. This of course was a lie and had I not asked for them, I never would have received these remotes given his untruthful answer to my question.
The main reason why I deem Ryno to be ************* is the fact that he knowingly de*****ed us from the difference between the price we believed we were paying at Security Warehouse, and the prices het gets from the supplier. In appointing IPS to install our gate motor, I asked Ryno if he could get the motor for us on our behalf as per the quote I got from Cindy at Security warehouse. I then mailed him the quote, as well as the proof of payment for the full amount paid to him. This we concluded after I contacted Security Warehouse for a copy of the Invoice paid for the gate motor as we need this in submitting our claim to our insurer. Ryno to date still has not given this to us despite repeatedly asking him for this.
I have also requested Ryno to return my remote which he took with him in his effort to purchase other receivers. He never returned after that. In my e-mails to him I have even requested where I could collect my remote. This also remains unanswered.
The above is a truthful account of the events that has been to our frustration due to poor service delivery. I invite IPS at any time to dispute, refute any of the above statements and would in fact be happy to be wrong as I am not a vindictive person. I stand to gain nothing by this but instead hope to see that other people don’t have to deal with the same frustrations as I have had to as well as be subject to possible losses and liability’s due to this kind of poor service that should not be left unaddressed especially in the security Industry
