Badly designed
The design of the parking area at the Hypermarket in Boksburg is totally inappropriate. It is shocking that no though went into the design of this, and to make matters worst, they have reduce the parking bays, which makes it even a bigger nightmare to find any parking. Secondly they given 15minutes free parking - what a joke! By the time you have to try and drive through without hitting your car with either the pavements or other cars and then trying to find parking, the 15 minutes is already up. No regard to the poor consumers, who are actually paying your salaries. Then on top of all that, what a mission it is to get you ticket and insert the ticket into the machine, and there is no help to assist you. You basically need to get out of your car to collect your ticket or insert your ticket back into the machine. Please then, explain what am I paying for. Another way of how to make money out of the consumer. Shocking!
Dear Sharon,
The commencement of paid parking in December 2014 at East Point ( formerly Galleria) was, to a large extent, as a result of the demand for parking in this area, precipitated by the market and other retailers across the road who would use the parking, to the detriment of the East Point and East Rand Mall shoppers. While we acknowledge that the design may not be perfect, it is a temporary design that allows for the continued development/renovation and upgrade of East Point and East Rand Mall.
With regards to the 15 minutes, this period wasn't designed to allow for any real period of shopping, but allows for the drop off and collection of passengers, as well as drawing cash from an ATM for example. The reason why customers need to go to the pay station is to prevent the precinct being used as a rat-run to avoid the traffic lights in peak periods, thereby endangering the customers within the parking areas.
I trust that this information has provided you with more clarity, and rest assured that the customers' safety, convenience, and experience have received the highest priority within this upgrade project.
