IntegriSure - SMALL PRINT MATTERS!

Insurance! Face it, you really don’t know if you’re covered until you claim, right? No doubt there are millions like me - you’re probably included - bitterly disappointed to find I should have read the unbelievable “exclusions” (you’ll find them in the ‘very small print’!). Like you perhaps, the recent floods caused damage to my property so, after paying ever-increasing premiums for 20+ years I approach my insurer (Integrisure since you ask) for help under the “Storm/Landslip” or “Garden” section of my homeowners policy; this is where I’m referred to ‘Page 30’ of my 27 page policy (!) featuring ‘Exclusions’. It gets interesting! “Landslip cover excludes loss or damage to drains, water courses, boundary walls, garden walls, screen and retaining walls, gateposts, gates and fences, driveways, paving, swimming pool borders, tennis courts or…….” you get the idea “anything you care to mention!” So, okay, what about my cover under “Garden”? This one’s confusing - there’s reference to “Damage to trees, shrubs, plants and sprinkler system due to fire or explosion at your residence or by a vehicle or aircraft”! So there it is….my cover under ‘Landslip’ doesn’t actually exist and my cover under ‘Garden’ doesn’t exist unless my roses explode or have been attacked by a vehicle or falling aircraft ! Moral of the story? In Insurance what the Big Print giveth, the Small Print taketh away! So read the small print first - assuming it’s in the policy and not supp**** upon request !!
