Kids die of Cold due to INTERCITY EXPRESS nehligence

Hello Peter

I am writing this as a frustrated parent who is sitting in Johannesburg with my children stranded in Port Shepstone with no place to sleep because of Intercity’s arrogance and incompetence.

I have used this bus over the years to transport my children from Johannesburg to Port Shepstone. This has been the worst experience thus far. I reserved payed got the tickets of my 3 children on the 04.07.2018. The bus was to depart from Port Shepstone st 19h30 to Midrand on the 14 July 2018. At 19:30 the bus arrived, they were kicked out because the bus was apparently to full.

They stood outside in the cold until another bus appeared at 22h00pm. They were again kicked out because their tickets were not paid for.

I was informed of this after the bus had left , I spoke over the phone with a “driver” who informed that I had not sent proof of payment. I need to state that this has never been a requirement since my years of using this bus. He also told me to call the Head office.

I obliged and spoke to a lady called IVY , who informed me that there had been system glitches because from her side the tickets were paid for but this did not appear on the drivers Manifest. She promised to call back with a solution.

She called back 22:28 informing that the bus had left and the next days bus was fully booked. I then asked what her plan was as the kids were from Bizana in the Eastern Cape and I am in Johannesburg and the kids have no way of going back to EC . Ivy asked to call her manager and get back to me.

Ivy called back 22:52. This is now over 3 hours since the expected departure time. Ivy told me that her boss would open tickets for the next morning at 7h45 am. I accepted this but the second issue of a 7 year old, 10 year Old sitting in a garage in Port Shepstone in the cold with no place to sleep nor transport to go back home was not address. I need to highlight that they were by the way with their nanny who was just as stranded.

Ivy could not respond to my questions about them being stranded, insisted that I could not speak to her manager as she is not allowed to share the details.

I’m sitting here wondering where the kids will sleep. I have told Ivy that this will be shared on any public platform that I know of and if my children die of cold , INTERCITY EXPRESS will be responsible for their death.

I am livid
