Terrible maintenance and service

I’m highly disappointed with the terrible service I experienced with Intercape overnight bus from Pretoria at 21:30 pm on 23rd February to arrive at Empangeni today 24th February at 9:30 am. From the moment I sat down on the bus I immediately had skin irritation and could not stop scratching my legs and skin. Initially I thought I had a bad reaction to the rain but that has never happened before. The irritation felt that of mosquito bites but worse, I then thought it might be bed bugs but I refused to believe so because I was sat on a bus. As the night progressed, the itching worsened and eventually I started smacking bugs that had sucked off my blood. I tried to sit on a blanket so prevent the bugs from biting me but they managed to crawl on it and still proceeded to bite me. The entire trip I was fixated on killing bed bugs instead of relaxing and getting some rest. I’m entirely disgusted and disappointed with the poor hygiene and lack of maintenance in the bus. Evidently, the busses are not deep cleaned and vacuumed after use for the benefits of their customers but are solely for the purpose of filling up seats for the benefit of making money. The lack of customer care is alarming and one should not have to worry about bed bugs when using public transportation. Additionally there was a bus break down in which the drivers were unable to change the tyre thus set back our trip 3 hours behind schedule. It is essential that a back up plan is made whereby the drivers learn to change the tyre in cases of a “break down” Ultimately, I’m traumatised with my horrible experience and would not recommend Intercape as a reliable mode of transportation.
