REFUND OF BUS TICKET no.***XP945

On 01 June 2023 I purchased a bus ticket from Shoprite, Dlamini in Soweto for a INTERCAPE trip departing from Johannesburg to Kimberley on 03 June 2023 at 9am. I paid R360 including a R40 admin fee (the sales clerk bragging that Shoprite also needs to make something). However on the day of travelling we received sad news of a death in the family and the passenger could not travel. Although after departure, I decided to request a refund from Shoprite Ennerdale because of my EXCEPTIONAL CASE. The store clerk said a penalty fee will be charged for the cancellation. When she punched in my ticket number, the system showed a ZERO refund due. I was ready to show the proof of death, but was referred to Intercape. I was not informed of your refund policy during the sale and nowhere is it displayed in Shoprite. Unfortunately Intercape did not respond to my online query hence I am airing my frustration on this platform to get their attention. Intercape I hope you consider my exceptional case for an urgent refund. It cannot be that your refund policy is so draconian as to not even refund one cent. Most reputable businesses refund their clients, why can't Intercape do the same (if you count yourselves among the reputable of course). Consumers should be protected equally (as per Consumer Protection Act). It's not like you'll go bankrupt due to a refund. Please refund me even less a REASONABLE cancellation fee. A 100% penalty AIN'T reasonable and thieving is definitely not good for your or any other business doing this. SHOPRITE who claims to be saving its everyday customers money should also take note and not take on deals that disadvantage them. It's like Shoprite doesn't care that people lose money in the process as long as it 'makes something'. R40 is not just 'something'; it's 12,5% of R360! Now I am told my penalty is 100%! You flush us down the poverty drain by *****ing from us!!! Come on Intercape and Shoprite. Thanks hellopeter.
