Pricing, punctuality and hygiene!!!

I have been using intercape for close to 10 years now and have never experienced any issues until the last few months. I have a a few complaints about them, which I have contacted them about, but they always have a different story or excuse.

1. Late, always late! Honestly, I can't blame the drivers for this. They have always been helpful and friendly. The problem is that their busses are not serviced regularly. The last 3 times I have made use of their service, the bus has broken down. The last trip I did with them(Wednesday 4th May 2016), the bus broke down in Klawer for just over an hour. On Sunday (8th May 2016) my brother boarded in Springbok, the bus was suppose to leave at 23:55 but only left the next morning at 9:30. I believe this was the same bus I was on, as it had the same problem.

2. Ticket prices: A friend of mine booked a ticket from Springbok-Cape Town for R350, a week later I booked a ticket from Sringbok-Malmesbury which was originally priced at R526. I phoned the call centre to ask if this was correct as it made no sense to pay more for a ticket for a shorter distance. After having to phone them 3times, they eventually told me that it was an error and that they were busy fixing it on the website. A consultant phoned me back to book my ticket and I ended up paying R342, which I feel is fair. When booking my brothers ticket from Springbok-Malmesbury 2 or 3 days later, I went onto the site to do the booking and noticed the price had not been adjusted to R342 as with the previous ticket. I phoned the call centre to ask if the price was correct, which they said yes it was. I explained what happened with the previous ticket I booked and said its has to be an error because its still a lot more than the R342 I paid for my ticket and it was the same distance. I got a call back from a guy, saying that it was the correct price and that the first consultant that I had spoken to when I did my booking will be given a disciplinary hearing as she gave me false information...WHAT?! If it was the incorrect information, then why was it changed on the website? And why was this confirmed by 2 different consultants? They blamed it on the poor consultant and inflating prices and said that they could have filled my seat with someone who had taken the entire route. When I offered to pay the R350 for a ticket to Cape Town(which is cheaper, but a longer trip), they wouldn't let me get off at an earlier stop because they have a business to run and they need to make money (the guy who phoned me back- his words!)....so by over charging clients who take a shorter trip, they make some extra cash...that good customer service....totally ridiculous! Both consultants were amazing and very friendly and had spoken to their supervisors...so its not their fault! The price issue for a trip from Springbok-Cape Town has still not been fixed.

3. Dirty headrest covers: I'm sure these have never been washed since the bus started running. What was suppose to be a white headrest cover, was brown and oily and filled with holes....beyond gross!

I'm so disappointed in their customer service and their unfair pricing. Their bus drivers and consultants are amazing! Friendly and accommodating...as for the rest...unacceptable!

I'm only rating one star, because I have to do a rating, but they don't get any stars from me.
