Missed an interview due to poor Service by Intercape
On the 19th i booked a bus ticket from Cape Town to Mthatha, when i book this ticket at their offices in Cape Town i specifically asked the lady who was assisting me to book me a bus that goes through to Queenstown and straight as i do not want to go through East London and King Williams Town, she assured me that the one that i am going to take goes through Queenstown to Mthatha it won't go to East London and Queenstown, i then asked her the arrival time she said 11:10am i said great. When she handed me the ticket i checked that the arrival time was as she said. Alright we boarded the coach to Mthatha at exactly 19:00pm it departed. On the way, it stops where there are no shops for people to get refreshment, in the coach there is no intertainment and absolutely no communication with the passengers none what so ever. You would find that the coach would stop at a certain place and they would not even tell us why they are stopping and at some point go as far as turning the engine off, but that was not much of a concern, until we arrived I Queenstown around 7 am passengers disembarked obviously those that have reached their destination and the coach is now leaving Queenstown to the next town that would be Cofimvaba, to my surprise the coach takes the rout to East London and King Williams Town, when i went to the drivers to ask why are we taking this rout they tell me i will get to Mthatha, mind you i have an interview at 12:45. They tell me not to worry their end destination is Mthatha. I ask but how do you then take another rout without informing us as passengers because then this means we will not get to Mthatha at 11:10, He tells to not mind anything that is written on that ticket because that time is only written there for compliance purposes. I then took my phone and called their offices in Cape town on *** to complain about this i was then transfered to a Lady called Megan, who did not help me much even after i told her about my predicament. She asked for a minute to call the driver and find out why he took a different rout, i said ok i dropped the phone. After 2 minutes she called back and told me that the driver said that their ops manager asked them to take that rout because there are people going to King Williams Town in the same coach and this will just be a 1hour detour meaning we will get to Mthatha at 12:10, bare in mind a drive from King Williams Town to Mthatha is 3hours straight so i could not understand a 1 hour detour she and the driver talked about.
In a nutshell we get to King Williams Town, only to find we took this long rout only to come and drop off 1 person, ok i thought maybe there will be others in dropping off or embarking in other town but no, that whole detour was just for that 1 person. Apparently it made business sense to them. For me i would have thought that she could have been transfered to another coach going that rout, or go straight Mthatha and get on that coach that is from Durban to Cape Town i mean that would have been options, or transfer me to a coach that goes straight to Mthatha. I mean if an exception could be done for her obviously it can also be done for another. To cut the long story short, the bus got to Mthatha at 2pm and my interview was at 12:45, so i guess it is safe to say for me that was the last time i used their poor service, i would not recommend them to anyone especially now that Greyhound is back they will never get a booking from me. Ticket number:***xm340 definitely the last Intercape ticket for me.
