Late for bus and couldn't get a refund

I booked the bus from Jhb to Upington on friday for Saturday 3 February 2018 I misses it due to transport and personal problems called on sunday to move it and they said I lost my money R550 just like that?...i don't think it was necessary to take all of it...in future I won't make use of their services...im a very unhappy customer
