Intercape’s gross negligence
Last week Wednesday, my niece travelled on Intercape reference B5BHBS11. The bus left Durban station at 08:00 and was due to arrive at 16:35 in Johannesburg Park station. The bus arrived at 20:35 without any communication to me as the emergency contact. The office at Park station did not know what was causing the delay nor the estimated time of arrival. Only when the bus pulled into the terminal were we informed that the bus was overheating and had to make stops at every garage to cool the engine down with water.
I was horrified at the level of negligence that was taken by the company. How did the bus leave Durban station in that condition? Was the bus not serviced before being cleared as roadworthy? I cannot imagine how Intercape can risk the passengers’ lives like that?
The office didn’t offer an apology or compensation of any sort for the inconvenience caused.
I would Intercape to explain how they could allow for such gross negligence and to compensate me for waiting an additional 4hours of which I had to pay my driver overtime.
