Expected a comfortable relaxing bus trip from johannesburg to Durban on 2021-10-03 at 22:00 but now my expectation of future journeys with Intercape Buses is to expect rudeness, expect Intercape policies to be broken and expect to be unsure if you will arrive safely at your destination.
Just before expecting to depart at 22:00 from park station the staff have an superiority struggle with an intoxicated passenger. The staff member proudly and loudly explains that Intercape Policy is that no passenger shall travel intoxicated on the bus as this could be a treat to the safety of all passengers on the bus. Should this be true the passenger would not have been allowed to take a seat of choice and told please do not do it again.
The bus did not leave Johannesburg Park Station until 22:47 but not before making u turns within the bus loading area not failing to mention continously switch off with continuously. This made other passengers start to become concerned on what is going on so I decided to knock on the drivers door to try obtain some answers. Unfortuantely the driver did not respond because he was standing by his urinating so I returned to my seat. After the bus being started up and switching off again I return to knock on the drivers window to obtain some answers. Three males were seated in this area and just looked at me so I continued to knock until one responded. I was greeted with an agressive face and a rude yes. I then ask, with a please, if the passanger can be informed if there is a problem since we have not left. I was asked why. My response being because our safety is a concern to us. He responded with an abrupt no and slammed the door. I attempted calling the so called 24 hour contact centre of Intercape as found on the website but to know answer. Eventually we leave at 22:47 but with a speed that creates more concern because is our driver now speeding to make up lost time.
At 22:58 we come a stop at shell garage to pick up 1 passanger. Maybe to my knowledge this is a new pick up point but I am not fami**** with it.
I pray and trust in God that I will arrive safely to my family as I write this review at 23:19 in this vary bus which has window curtains which do not seem to have been cleant recently as we shakingly speed off to Durban.
I trust that Intercape does not think that a simple discount or free ticket on my next trip will satisfy my disatisfaction and most horrible experience of travel as I do not wish to travel anywhere in future with Intercape. Unfortunately in my many travels with and referrals for passangers to use Intercape services has destroy the image of Intercape to me and those I know who travel by bus just because of one terrible team of staff.
My assumption is that Intercape must have new owners or manager, simple. A response from Intercape with an explanation of these incidents and how Intercape ensures this will not happen again to it's "Valued" customers is what is expected.
