Intercape Nightmare

Intercape used to be the only long distance bus company that I would consider, but what a nightmare. What me and my grandchild thought would be a nice trip from Cape Town to Pietermaritzburg to visit family turned out as a disaster. We left in the morning, the drive was good but the phone chargers wasn't working, then the bus broke down with a blown tire just before midnight, we waited in the middle of nowhere for three hours for another bus, which turned out as a low budget bus with no toilets. As we got on the new bus everyone was rushing for seats and me and my granddaughter was seperated from each other and had to sit apart from each other. It was just after 3 when we got on the low budget bus, which had engine problems as well, which means it was traveling at a very slow pace. Everyone wanted to go to the toilet and we just had to hold it. Eventually they stopped next to a field for the men to relieve themselves, but what about the women and young girls? When we eventually stopped at a bus stop, my granddaughter had severe bladder pains and could hardly walk to the toilets. The rest of the trip was torturing for both of us and probably also for the others on the bus. My granddaughter refused to have any drinks cause we didn't know when the next stop was going to be. When we eventually arrived at our destination nine hours late we were so relieved, had to take my granddaughter to the doctor as she had a bladder infection for holding her urine for hours at a time. I would never consider using Intercape again!
