Intercape bus left me stranded and sleeping in the streets on a cold winter day
I booked an intercape bus sleepliner bus ticket from Port Elizabeth to Johannesburg yesterday on the 2nd of July. The bus left the PE office at 17h00 as scheduled and I was there 30 prior as indicated on their ticket. I had a hand luggage and 2 blankets which they put in the luggage compartment. The bus left and stopped at the next town (uitenhage) which is about 25 kilometres from PE. There where picking up more passengers. I indicated to the passenger sitting next to me that I am going to buy airtime at the very same garage we stopped at. I never took even 5 minutes and the bus was leaving. I chased after the bus with no luck. Luckily I had my other phone with me and called the bus company immediately. (I left my other phone charging in the bus, bag with clothes, ID and money and snacks)
The call centre agent said she will get back to me but did not. I called again and she said the only thing they can do is collect my personal stuff and keep them safe and wait for me at the next town (cookhouse) which 200 kilometres away. How on Earth did they expect me to get there? I had no money. Nothing. I am still stranded here with no money and no food and no shelter on my head. I never expected this from a Christian bus company. FOR THEM TO FAIL TO EVEN TO STOP AT THE NEXT FILLING STATION FOR ME? I am extremely hurt. Please assist
