Hiding behind Terms and Conditions

Yesterday i booked two tickets for my children 10 and 16 to Mosselbay, i did the booking on-line and called the call centre to confirm the booking and secure two seats next to each other. I was asked for the children ages whereby the consultant placed me on hold while she confirmed something with her supervisor, she came back to me and confirmed all was in order.

this morning i tried booking return seats and was told that the children were too young to travel alone and had to be accompanied by someone 18 years or older. firstly why was i not told this yesterday? i would have stopped the transaction at that stage. to make matters worse i was told that as the children could not travel alone i would need to cancel the tickets and pay a 25% cancellation fee and it would take three weeks before the funds were back in my account. all supervisors and managers were in a meeting so i couldn't refer this to anyone either.

The terms and conditions state that unaccompanied children between 12 -18 can only travel if the prescribed indemnity form has been completed.

i was prepared to sign the indemnity but was told i had to cancel the tickets, now i must lose 25%?????
