I cannot believe there are businesses that still believe we need to carry our ID documents to process payments.

I was paying for my mom's bus ticket this morning at the Park Station bus terminal (Intercape) and I was told by the assistant at the counter that I need to produce my ID document, not driver’s license, to pay with a cheque card, or any form of bank card. this apparently has been the rule / norm for two years apparently. What is more annoying is that there is no sign or notice that states this rule. so after standing in the line and eventually getting to the counter I am told this. Are we back in the apartheid times walking around with our ID documents? who still walks around with their ID document when you have drivers’ licenses accepted everywhere else as a form of identification, besides I have never been asked anywhere else to produce identification when purchasing with a cheque card. Imaging being at a grocery store and being asked to produce identification to buy using your cheque card. I am seriously disappointed with this level of service, living in the time of efficient business processes.
