Disappointed by Intercape’s failure to assist after their driver caused a serious road incident

On 30 June 2025, I was involved in a serious incident on Cape Road in Port Elizabeth when an Intercape bus reversed into my stationary vehicle at a red traffic light. The impact was severe, leaving my car damaged and my family without transport — through no fault of our own.

Since then, I have:

Reported the matter to Intercape and their legal department Engaged with their insurer (AIG) Provided all necessary documentation Requested temporary assistance (e.g., vehicle rental) due to the hardship caused Involved my own broker to manage the formal claim process Despite all this, Intercape has: ❌ Refused to offer any temporary assistance ❌ Cited insurance limitations and concerns about “setting a precedent” ❌ Declined to take any proactive steps to alleviate the hardship caused

Their insurer has also confirmed that rental support is outside their scope, leaving us completely unsupported while facing loss of income and mobility.

It has now been over two weeks, and we are left stranded, burdened with the consequences of an incident caused entirely by an Intercape driver.

I am extremely disappointed by the lack of compassion, accountability, and responsiveness shown by Intercape — a national transport provider entrusted with public safety and service.

This review is my formal public appeal for Intercape to acknowledge the real impact of this incident, take responsibility, and assist us as any ethical and socially responsible company should.
