Bus ride from hell
A trip from hell, luxury liner 095 registration ICG095 From Bethlehem (OFS) to Pietermaritzburg (KZN) The ticket was booked to embark in Bethlehem at 11:20pm on 14 February 2021; to arrive in Pietermaritzburg the morning of 15 February 2021 at 04:05am The bus was three hours late, causing the people that dropped me off not to sleep before going to work in the morning. Totally unacceptable
*IN ACTUALLY IT WAS* Bethlehem 2:10am (15-92-2021) Harrismith 02:40am Swinburne 3:30am Ladysmith 4:20am Pietermaritzburg 6:40am There was NO social distancing at all. The bus had two seats per set in each row, the bus, each and every seat was occupied save 3, and the first set of seats in each row, when I embarked. Being a pensioner, I occupied the one set of seats directly behind the driver. The driver insisted that those seats were kept open for the driver to sleep,(there was no other company employee, only the one driver) he further explained that I could not occupy that seat because of social distancing, yet there was a panel between the driver and myself. I explained that there were no open seats. He drove off just to stop IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD IN TOWN, and took his passenger list, again he demanded that I move, throwing the passenger list to the floor, he then stomped down the bus walk way & returned, saying there was an open seat I can move or disembark. Requesting where, his answer was "walk down & you will see" he then proceeded to drive before I had found a seat. All this was just after 2am 15 February 2021. The only place open was nexto a man in a two seater space where the passenger in the row ahead was reclined to such a position that I could not get into the space. Requesting that she lift the seat so I could get into the space, I managed to sit. The driver must have been overtired because he was on & over the white line right then over the left, it was scary as hell. In Harrismith he stopped shouting from the front for A Venter to disembark. Not once moving between passengers to find the person. After shouting for about 10min. He drove on. What a relief that he disembarked at Swinburne. The new driver had a uniform on, (unlike the first driver) neat and seemed friendly but oh my word, once the bus was on the highway the music started, so loud that it was impossible to even relax, never mind sleep., even though I was now in the back third of the bus, nobody around me could sleep either. Arriving at 6:40am instead of 4:05am I noe had a transport problem to get to the farm where I live. That time of day taxis are occupied taking people to work. This was the worst experience I have ever had on a luxury liner, ever & I use the luxury liners on a regular basis. I do not recomend this bus service to anybody at all
