Shock and horror, leaving a 74 year old without water. 6 days counting

UPDATE: 11April226@08h35 NOTHING.... Aparently there are no plumers available. 🤣 If my 74 year old retired mother wants a contractor to come out, she's welcome to get someone and pay for it, and then claim from her insurance. *** funny! UPDATE: 10April26 @14h22 Mrs Roberts has just received various calls from your Integrisure contractors stating they can come out on Monday, 13 April 2026. Then Integrisure contacted her to advise they DO NOT HAVE plumbers and they will get back to her on Monday, 13 April 2026. This is not good enough. She called your call centre on Monday - 6 April 2026 - to which there was NO answer. Tuesday it took her the entire day and her claim was logged past 14h00. The municipal MAIN TO THE HOUSE has been closed since Sunday, 5 April. Do you only have one contractor in your ENTIRE group? Now the contractor says they can try assist her on Saturday morning. Is 7 days OK for any of you to be without water? This is surely not how one handles a complaint when YOUR Contractors messed up! Original Message: IntegriSure and Santam Insurance – this post concerns the treatment of a 74‑year‑old insured client who has been left without running water for days due to contractor negligence. Dear Integrisure, and seeing that we know who's who, Santam Please explain how your organisation finds it acceptable to allow a paying client, a 74‑year‑old retired woman, to be left without running water for five consecutive days. Your contractors arrived on Wednesday to attend to a leak. Upon opening the municipal stop****, they identified a burst pipe. While investigating, they discovered another burst pipe approximately 1.5 metres away and advised her that she would need to submit another claim. Let us pause to consider the implications: * Unnecessary time wastage * Wasting expensive fuel * Infringement on a basic human right — access to water After opening the municipal stop****, your contractors left the premises without closing it, resulting in over eight hours of potable water running unchecked into her garden. What followed was an exhausting and distressing series of phone calls attempting to convey the urgency of the situation to various Integrisure representatives, including: Kirsha (Claims) at 13:08 A gentleman in Car Claims at 14:04 Jenna Lee at 16:36 All on the same day, in a desperate attempt to get your contractors back to close what they had opened. This raises further serious concerns: * Reckless wastage of precious water * Liability for an excessive municipal water bill It is certainly not the responsibility of Mrs M.E. Roberts, especially considering that your contractors caused this situation. It was deeply concerning to hear that your staff suggested contractor insurance would cover damages only up to R1,500. This is immaterial — the loss arose from negligence by your appointed service providers, for whom Integrisure is legally responsible. In terms of the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008: Section 54 guarantees consumers the right to timely, safe, and quality service Section 54(2) entitles a consumer to remedies when services are performed negligently or incompletely Section 61 provides for strict liability for harm or loss caused by defects or negligence in the supply of services The conduct of your contractors — and the lack of corrective action by Integrisure — constitutes a clear failure to meet these statutory obligations. Later on Wednesday evening, she received a message stating that the contractors were “busy with a big job” and would attend later. A big job? Bigger than leaving water running for hours? Do your contractors operate with only one team? At some point during the evening, the water stopped — without communication. No update. No confirmation. No reassurance. She spent the night stressed and anxious, only to receive a generic message thanking her for allowing assistance, despite the problem remaining unresolved. There is still no running water in her house, raising serious concerns related to: Sanitation Hygiene Health risks She has been left overwhelmed, distressed, and without access to a basic necessity. She has been forced to purchase water to wash herself and flush a toilet, after thousands of litres were wasted due to your contractors’ negligence. You received NUMEROUS updated videos of all the water running out in her garden - they were all sent to *** - not even an automated response was received back! As of 10:30 am today, she has received no further communication. Is she without water for the weekend too? This matter requires urgent intervention, immediate restoration of water supply, and full financial remediation, including the entire water bill incurred, not a capped or partial amount. Failure to address this promptly will leave no option but to escalate the matter to senior management and external regulatory bodies. I expect your urgent response. Your email has also been sent as per the above if you don't want to publically admit to this problem and try resolve it before COB, today. Her claim information and ID number has been included in your communication. Your poor staff whom are trying to assist are now suffering under this now. I emailed both CEO's of Santam, and Integrisure. Today, this minute, nobody has bothered to communicate back. The only communication mom has received was - we have no plumbers to assist - you pay and claim back. Shock and horror! Hence my public outcry! Dear IntegriSure
I am happy to report that the City of Cape Town has now officially cut her water supply to her house because you have done NOTHING around the 8 hours of water waste bill that you left her. We are talking almost R40K
What report are you going to be happy to report back now? Please do indulge me.

On Facebook - updated today:

UPDATE: 25May2026 @ 14h40
City of Cape Town
Ward 107 - City of Cape Town
Ward 113 - City of Cape Town

The City of Cape Town have officially now cut mom's water.
IntegriSure and Santam Insurance have STILL not bothered assisting since this has happened 7 weeks ago.

Now people, a 73 year old retired woman whom needs to live off her little pension, sitting with a water bill of almost R40K that WAS NOT HER FAULT is officially without water again.

What can a human do apart from be in contact with them. Beg them. Ask them.
"Dawie" from IntegriSure told her to go open a case at the police station :) WOW.

The initial communication to IntegriSure and Santam Insurance was sent to a couple of bosses too, with not even a "you have the wrong guy" in response. Radio Silence only.

To: Complaints <***>; ***; ***; ***;
Cc: Complaints <***>; ***;

Sadly I received a generic response:
Good day

Our offices acknowledge receipt of the correspondence below.

To enable us to review and assist with the matter as efficiently as possible, we kindly request that you provide the relevant policy or claim number.
Thank you
Kind regards
Client care department

The communication had her ID number in. You want to tell me with the email I sent - let me know if you'd like a copy of that too, cause I am now naming and shaming every human that gave her a name over the phone - including email addresses where I can - they couldn't use her ID number to find who she is? LOL

Just WOW. That was my answer. Here is her ID number again, in case you missed it in the subject line and email body.

HER WATER IS NOW CUT !

They now want evidence of negligence. Were all the videos every 15 minutes how the water is still RUSHING OUT OF HER GARDEN not enough evidence back in April ON THE DAY it was happening? Where we BEGGED YOU to send the plumbers back to close the stop**** THEY opened? Apparently not.

IntegriSure also assured mom that the plumbers are insured against situations like this for up to R1500.00
Whahahahahah - sorry for my French - but the running of 8 hours of water and being insured for R1500.00 - that's *** FUNNY!!!!!

*** FUNNY!!!!

But cutting a 73 year olds water when you told her she has until 1 June 2026 to pay for the negligence of others bill and then cutting it on 25 May 2026 is not *** funny. That just ***.

Mom has emailed you at 10H39

To whom it may concern,This letter serves as a formal demand for urgent intervention and resolution regarding the ongoing service failures by Integrisure and its appointed contractors, which have now resulted in significant financial loss and the disconnection of my water supply.Despite repeated communications over the past seven (7) weeks, no adequate corrective action has been taken. On 25 May 2026 at approximately 14:30, my water supply was disconnected by the City of Cape Town due to an excessive account of approximately R40,000, directly attributable to your contractor’s failure to properly isolate and secure my water system. Allowing water to run for 8 hours.I have since been notified of a further unresolved leak, resulting in an additional estimated charge of approximately R9,000.Your staff have informed me that Integrisure will not take responsibility for this matter. Why has it been put on me, when it is YOUR service delivery failure? Should this position remain unchanged, I will have no alternative but to escalate this formally, including:
  • Lodging a complaint with the relevant Insurance Ombudsman,
  • Opening a formal case with the appropriate authorities.
I must place on record the following:
  • I provided clear evidence of contractor negligence over seven weeks ago, numerous video footage of the water running in the garden after they failed to close the water stop**** THEY opened. They recognised a 2nd leak, which they refused to fix because it was 1.2m away from the initial claim. Your contractors further requested I load a 2nd claim and they will "come back". This is where they failed to close the stop**** they opened and allowed the water to run freely in the garden that you have numerous videos of - explaining the urgency of the matter, yet I was ignored. The report YOUR contractors supp**** failed to mention this information on their findings.
  • The previous contractor that assisted with the roof leak attended to it alone, installed piping incorrectly, caused water discharge within the roof structure, and failed to resolve the issue adequately. I am still waiting on this report.
  • Despite numerous requests, you have failed to provide contractor reports, ( received one INCOMPETE ONE as they did NOT elaborate on all the information) which are required for my engagement with the City of Cape Town regarding relief on the inflated charges because YOU are not interested in fixing your failed delivery service.
I further question your service delivery as follows:
  • Is this how Integrisure treats paying clients who have been repeatedly requesting assistance for over seven weeks following a clear service failure?
  • What service am I paying for if critical failures are ignored and not rectified?
  • Why is the failure of a contractors appointed by Integrisure being shifted onto me as the client?
Accordingly, I formally demand the following within 48 hours of this communication:
  1. Written confirmation that Integrisure accepts responsibility for investigating and resolving the R40,000 water loss attributable to contractor negligence.
  2. I request the dispatch of a qualified contractor to identify and repair the current leak causing the additional R9,000 charge.
  3. Full provision of all contractor reports, job cards, and communication records related to this matter.
  4. A clear, written plan of action outlining how Integrisure will remedy both the financial and service failures.
Failure to respond adequately within this timeframe will leave me with no option but to proceed with formal escalation without further notice. Please treat this matter with the urgency it requires.

Let's hope this is sorted so her water bill that YOUR contractors caused, is paid and her basic need for water is switched on again.
