excuses....excuses....

I recently came home one afternoon and discovered on entering the bathroom, that during the day , the tiles on one wall has fallen down, breaking the shower floor and chipping the basin.

I submitted a claim and an assessor came out to assess the damage.

I told him that I do not know what had happened, as both me and my wife work during the day. I told him that there was a military base close by where sometimes the detonate explosives and sometimes one can feel the tremors.

He went away to do his report.

I got feedback that the claim was rejected. The excuse "dat die skade nie deur ‘n versekerde gevaar veroorsaak is nie."

I do not know what has cause the damage - if it was one of the extremely strong winds which will cause our wooden house to tremble and shake, or what else. Clearly it was not an act of god, but I am left in a worse situation.

I thought I was paying good money to insure that in case of an accident, I am not left worse off, but I am left having to pay out of my pocket.

This is NOT ON! This is not acceptable at all.
