Where's my money?

Integra Motors sold my car nine days ago, but I still have not received the payment for it. In their sellers contract, they state that it takes up to seven working days to process payment - something that the salesperson, Carien, reiterated to me when I queried it after four working days. I find this delay very suspicious - is interest during these waiting periods an additional income stream for Integra Motors? And why do they not stick to their timelines, or manage clients' expectations in the event of any delays?

I made an error in this review and cannot seem to edit it - I meant my car was sold nine working days ago - not nine days.

Payment received. What a pity to have to resort to this measure for a resolution, not to mention to be put on a guilt trip by the salesperson for getting into trouble for not doing her job. I look forward to an explanation as to why there was a delay in payment, and where the money lies during these waiting periods. That said, I appreciate the feedback.

I received a call from a clearly upset mr. Vernon Wilken, CEO of Integra motors, who apologised on behalf of his company and tried to explain that this matter was a misunderstanding and that I misunderstood the papers that I signed. As the call progressed, I also got upset. When I indicated that I am not willing to reconsider my review on this platform, Mr. Wilken threatened that I would be hearing from his lawyer. Nice way to treat an unhappy customer. Mr. Wilson's threat has prompted me to give the way I handled this complaint some more thought, and have decided to respond with the following to clarify where I'm coming from: First and foremost, I admit that I made a mistake with the amount of working days between the day my car was sold (Wednesday, 11 April) and the date I received payment (today) - it's been 8 working days - not 9 working days, as stated in my original complaint. Considering the payment took place one working day longer than I expected, I admit that I might have been hasty in resorting to Hello Peter with my complaint, but a lot of money was at stake, and I had no idea where it was or when or if I was going to receive it. During our call, mr. Wilken explained to me that payment actually was due today, as payment happens when Integra Motors receives the payment from the bank. Misunderstanding? Possibly, but I did not know that payment still was due to them after the buyer of my car took ownership of the vehicle. This is why: On the day the car was sold on 11 April, I was under a lot of pressure to provide my registration certificate. I was told the buyer needed the car immediately and was planning to cross the border with it. Considering this, I was under the impression that payment must have been received and I gave my full cooperation. I emailed the Carien at the dealership on 13 April, politely asking if she could provide an indication as to when I was going to receive my money. I received a somewhat blunt response stating "die ****rak sê 7 werksdae vanaf uitbetaling aan ons." (seven working days after payment to us). When I asked if this means that I will receive payment on Thursday, the 19th of April, I immediately received the following response: "Jammer Martinus, ek kan nie inmeng met my finansiele kantoor nie. Jou file is sopas afgeteken deur die CEO, dit le tans by finansies vir utibetaling." (sic) (Sorry Marthinus, I can't get involved with my finance office. Your file has been signed off by the CEO, it's with finance for payment.") I decided to stick to the Thursday, 19 April timeline, thinking payment might even happen sooner, considering my file was signed off by the CEO. I was also under the impression that Integra Motors must have received payment on the day the new owner took ownership of the car on the 11th of April, because it does not make sense to let a buyer take ownership of a vehicle, not to mention cross the border, without payment. In light of the fact that payment to me, the client, only happened upon payment to the dealership (which must have been yesterday or this morning, considering mr. Wilken's response), I cannot help but wonder why the buyer immediately got to take ownership of the car with plans to cross the border, but it took 7 or 8 working days to receive the money? Should I give Integra Motors the benefit of the doubt by making a further assumption that there probably was a guarantee from the bank that payment was going to be made, hence the delay? This is an unfortunate incident caused by poor communication, and I accept mr. Wilken's apology with regards to miscommunication. I trust that Integra Motors will try harder to be clearer in their communication with their future customers. But - and this is a strong but - this does not take away the fact that I had a negative customer experience - especially now that mr. Wilken has threatened to let his lawyer loose on me. Having received my payment and I now consider this matter closed. I trust Integra Motors will do the same.
