Non-existen service / Struggling for 8 months to cancel

Email says it all

To whom it may concern,

I enrolled into INTEC to do my NSC and I was more than excited, as it was my first time doing homeschooling. It was not long before all the problems occurred.

I experienced the following issues during my ± 3 months with INTEC College:

1. My study materials were late and being new to homeschooling I was extremely stressed. Once my study materials arrived, I started studying, as I should. I tried my best to do it in a timely manner however it was not easy considering I had many questions that went unanswered, as I was not given any assistance whatsoever. When I asked questions on the “Can we help you?” pop up on the website, I was told to contact my tutor. I would like to know what point there is in having a tutor if you do not have his/her number. I was told my tutor would contact me “shortly”; however, that did not happen until my exams had started. I had already enrolled into another school by then.

2. During the time in which I was working through my study material, I finished my given assignments simultaneously. When I called to make sure whether we must post the assignments (as stated in the package) or take them in, I was told to post them. This, too, became confusing when the schedule for my tests came and the tasks (which were to be done at home and posted) had to be done when we got to the test venue (College of Cape Town – Pinelands Campus) where ONLY our tests (supposedly) had to be done.

3. When I got to CCT, I was told by the invigilators that I had to rewrite my tasks, that were given to me to be done at home, over on a piece of exam paper. This was absolutely ridiculous as I went through a lot of effort to have some of these tasks printed out and laminated considering I had the option to give them in typed up.

4. Before the exams took place, I was emailed a schedule of when to go in and do my prepared speeches for English and Afrikaans; however, when I went to the venue, no one was there to even listen to my (or any of the other students’) prepared speeches, never mind mark me on them. This happened on several occasions.

5. Calling the call centre was hopeless as I was talking to people who were rude, *********** or just flat out careless and that is IF someone answered the phone. There were numerous times where I would phone at around 4:00 and I would be greeted with a robot telling me the call centre closes at 5 and to call back the following day.

6. Whilst enrolling into my new school as a result of the difficulties I faced with INTEC, I kindly requested that INTEC send my first term results and I received no response. I currently have an average of 82% and considering I am in the midst of my finals, I do not need INTEC claiming money that does not belong to them as they have not been beneficial toward my school career and have done me no favours whatsoever.

7. Cancelling with INTEC, has been as expected, yet another problem. INTEC was informed of my cancellation in May month. It is now November and money is STILL being deducted from my father’s account regardless of forms being filled out and faxed back to given contacts and emails, phone calls being made on various occasions; nothing gets done as usual. The bank has notified my father that reversing the fees that go to INTEC every month from his account is reflecting badly on his name. This is extremely frustrating as I have not been with INTEC for months and regardless of phone calls or emails, nothing gets done.

I cannot stress enough that my experience with INTEC was and has been a total disaster. Therefore I request, yet again, that I be taken off the system and that INTEC stops taking money that does not belong to them.

I find the service that INTEC has provided was and is, extremely unprofessional to the extent that if it were my company, I would be completely and utterly embarrassed. I also highly recommend that INTEC staff be trained from scratch, as their lack of training is evident.

Please find attached proof of cancellation requests prior to this.

Thank you,

Sjana A. (Ms)
