It seems as if Intec is more interested in getting a deal than helping students get qualifications!

I have enrolled a student at Intec College for the rewrite of 2 subjects as part of the National Senior Certificate Grade 12 to improve her scores. As we already had teachers for the said subjects, the only purpose for enrolling at the college was to be enrolled at an examination centre, which would then enable her to write these exams. The consultant I corresponded with left me under the impression that it would be sufficient to enroll at the college. On 20 March I received an sms from Intec inquiring whether we have managed to register for 2018 final exams. I immediately called and requested to speak to the agent, but was informed that he was no longer working there. The person I spoke to told me that, according to the fact sheet sent to me, we were suppose to register the student directly at the Department of Education.

I immediately called the Department, where I have been told that we had to register before 15 March 2018 and we were therefore too late for registration.

My issues are now:

1. Why would Intec wait until 20 March to inquire about the registration and not prior to the 15th deadline? 2. I also believe that the wording on the fact sheet is ambiguous and unclear, and I quote "you have to ensure that you register to rewrite the subjects for which you did not meet the pass requirements with your previous high school or an examination centre for part-time NSC Grade 12 repeat candidates before 15 March 2018". As the student was aiming at improving her scores, I was convinced that by enrolling and registering the student at Intec before 15 March 2018 with Intec as an examination centre it would be quite sufficient to have the student registered at the college to enable her to write the final exams. I assume now that Intec is not an examination centre and that it was completely useless to enroll with them, as they only supp**** the study material, which we obviously already had.

I am now not only wasting the R4000 for Intec College, but also a full year in the life of a very deserving and promising student.
