Poor service from Insurance company

I had taken out a motor warranty plan with insure africa. My vehicle had a break down and now my claim has been approved for less than what I am covered. According to my plan the executive plan 1. I am covered for R 9000 on cambelt failure, R 8000 on drive pully, R 8000 on cylinder head gasket, R 45000 on Engine components. All of these components need to be repaired yet I only get approved for R 7000 and The costs of fixing my vehicle amount to R 21 972. This is appalling for me as I have taken an insurance to get peace of mind yet I have been mislead. My policy number is IAMWAG***. Go into my profile and you will see that my account is up to date. I have been fooled by this company. My family and I are now using public transport for the past month which makes things even more difficult for getting to work and back home. Yet every month I pay the insurance and my vehicle as well.

Good day Sir,

We have a signed proposal that states that not only did you receive your policy wording but further to that, agreed to be bound by the Terms & Conditions of the Monthly Warranty that you elected to take out.  In the policy wording, on page 5, it gives a detailed explanation of a Two in One Failure (i.e., a number of components that fail at the same time) and also lists a detailed explanation as to how your claim will be authorised in this event:

Two in one Failure
Any number of mechanical or electrical failures that occur or are reported at the same time will be treated as one claim. The cost of repair of the individual component will be limited to the actual cost of repair or the individual component category benefits, whichever is the lesser. The total claimable amount will not exceed the highest benefit component limit.

In this instance, this higher benefit to the Stated Benefit amount has been approved and the balance of the items listed remain for your own account.

Your estimate also lists a number of items that are not covered by your Warranty:  Oil filer, spark plugs, Camshaft cover etc.  These are not mechanically working components and are specifically excluded from the Warranty.

Page 2 of your wording refers:
We will only pay the authorised amount. If there is a shortfall between the invoiced amount and the authorised amount, the shortfall will be for your account.

Your comments therefore that you have been 'fooled' by the Insurer and misled are regarded with the dismay they deserve.  The onus remains yours to make yourself fami**** with the very Terms & Conditions to which you agreed at point of sale and the wording is clear and concise. Your claim has been correctly authorised.

Regards, InsureAfrica
