Disgruntled customer
I have a mechanical warranty with Insure Africa and had a recent claim as my vehicle had some issues only to find out that they rejected my claim as my vehicle went 4000km above their stipulated service km which is 15 000km. Since we were under lockdown the service centres were closed and was only operational under lock down level 3 with minimum staff capacity therefore i could not take my vehicle for a service. The vehicle was last serviced in January and then middle of September. Insure Africa rejected the claim and is stating that the policy is now suspended until 60 days and will not entertain any claim whatsoever in the interim. My point to them was that since we were in a pandemic and nobody was allowed to go anywhere unless for essentials, was I supposed to look for a service centre that was opened to take my vehicle for a service during the lock down period, well, according to Insure Africa it was my duty to look for a service centre that was operational and should have serviced my vehicle. They should have allowed the customer leeway as this was not negligence on our side but they refused to allow this and they are standing firm in their decision. I am paying for a service but is not getting joy from this. I just dont want others to fall into this trap as when insurers call you they sweet talk you to take up the policy but only when you are faced with a challenge then only do you hear about all this side-lined so called terms and conditions.' This is so totally unfair and biased on Insure Africas part as they just don't want to pay.
Our apologies for the delay in responding to your complaint. Our service over run is 1500 Km's (not 15 000 Km's) or 30 days depending on whether you are servicing annually or on mileage. Your service over run was an additional 2 500 Km's over this. Further to that, during the lock down services and emergency repairs were permitted during Level 4 which would have enabled you to service your vehicle. As we were aware of the complexities of the Lock down we did permit another 1 500 Km's over and above the initial 1 500 Km's however, your vehicle was an additional 1 000 km's over the extended leeway parameter. As per the Terms & Conditions of your Warranty and to which you agreed at point of inception, your vehicle's services are to be kept up to date in order for you to enjoy the benefits of your Warranty.
