University of choice: Institute of Accounting Science

When I decided to do my PGDA at the age of 52, it was a big decision for me. I did a bit of research on what university to choose that will fit into my lifestyle. I had to make a change as the previous university where I studied treated me like a number and they do not give any feedback on important matters. I travelled from Windhoek to Johannesburg to find out more about the university Institute of Accounting Science (IAS) and instantly fell in love with the environment and friendly people right from the start that offered so much more than I expected.

IAS is truly an amazing university for the following reasons: • They have a planned out program that is excellent and works; • The lecturers have a passion for their subjects and are committed to technical excellence and this passion is contagious for any student to want to learn more; • They care to develop each student to become professional about the accounting, management accounting, tax and auditing profession; • The lecturers are committed to accountability that bring results; • Classes are of the highest standard consistently and complicated topics are explained in the best way for easy understanding; • Classes are also online and you can watch this more than once to revert back to difficult topics; • Prior year tests and examination papers are available with solutions that help to develop a deep understanding and to apply your knowledge; • You can mail your lecturers and be sure of your questions to be answered, therefore unlimited email support and communication throughout the program; • You receive motivational emails from Gary and a mentor is assigned to each student that keeps you motivated throughout your PGDA year.

Covid 19:

2020 was quite a year and IAS changed this into a positive situation.

Conclude:

I can truly say that my proudest moment was when I passed my PGDA. It is noteworthy to mention that this, apart from my family support, would have not be possible without the support and motivation from the IAS team. Not only did I grow in knowledge, but also as a person because of IAS where you as a student ALWAYS MATTERS. At IAS, you are not just another number, but part of the IAS growing family – one of the many benefits of being an IAS student.

IAS clearly differentiates itself from its competitors as innovative, exceeds expectations, has a passion for principles, and its lecturers are caring, lateral thinkers who are not afraid to be different. Student’s needs matter, communication with an open door policy, commitment, exceptional and definitely the University of Choice.
