Disgusted by Absa Instant Life

My complaint concerns ABSA Bank Instant Life Insurance. My husband passed away June 2018 and the cause of death was ruled Natural Causes. We lodged the claim with ABSA Instant Life during July 2018. At the time of us lodging the claim, ABSA Instant Life requested access to my husband's medical records which they received and it was in order in terms of what was declared on the policy. We waited in vein for "their processing to be completed" with no results. Then, out of the blue when we followed up again, during February 2019 they informed us that we needed to submit his full records/claims history for full the period of his Discovery health membership dating back from 2 ********** which took us an additional 2 months to obtain from Discovery health. This was submitted to Absa during the first week of March 2019 and now during the last week of April 2019 we are still waiting indefinitely for our claim to be settled. At the time we confirmed whether this was the last of their demands for support documents before finalising the claim and they confirmed that it was the last. Today we were again informed that they indeed are requesting more information ie. Pathology reports of tests the deceased had done when he took out the policy. The question is why are they seeking these test results? Did he comply before been approved or not? Did he comply to the criteria before paying these hefty premiums ? What exactly are they trying to establish? These ongoing delays and tactics of the Absa Instant Life accessors who are really going out of their way to find reasons to not settle this claim is unacceptable. My late husband paid close to 7000 rand per month on this policy, at the time of his application he declared all his illnesses and they (Absa) had no issue collecting his funds with all the activation periods and criteria been met. Meantime, I am battling to care for my visually impaired child and her brother. We are hemorrhaging financially and Absa has no regard for the trauma we have been going through as a result of losing our loved one.

We need this matter to be escalated and finalised.

Sad and frustrated

I have taken to social media out of desperation and frustration. And I will definitely will see this matter through until the end whether it is via the court , newspaper and every social media platform. Absa is known to do this to desperate people. Our pain and suffering is unbearable

Tafadzwa Banda has equally tried assisting but I am not able to continue to service their bill so they also have seized their work until further notice. So there is a stale mate on the matter.

I am stuck now as the Executors, Liza Louw have seized to work on the matter as their bill is in excess if 200k already and Absa instant life administration has completely frustrated them through this tedious and lenghty process. They have dragged Baker Tilly around making countless requests for information and reports (which they provided ) and basically there is nothing more that can be done from their side

Good morning

I need to know if you have any further feedback for us on my matter.

I need to get my claim finalised with Absa with urgency. Whilst every parent is overjoyed on the first day of the new school year , I recieved an email advising me to not send my child back to school tomorrow as he is no longer welcomed, as the outstanding fees of 2019 has still not been paid. I have been trying my level best but simply can't keep up. same time my daughter, who is also visually impaired , who requires medical care for her chronic condition no longer has medical aid as our plan was suspended due to non payment.

If you want proof of these em I will gladly send it.

I need Absa instantlife to do the right thing and honour our claim. They have been "assessing " my claim for close to 2 years with no finality in sight.

I am not going to stop until they do the right thing. I will continue to take to social media and the highest court in the country if need be. My aim is creating awareness of how Absa instantlife plays with people's lives especially after a loss of a loved one. Us widows and the children suffers insurmountable pain and suffering whilst they play roulette with our lives. I want this matter finalised so that we can go on with our lives in peace and grieve our loss.
