Absa is allergic to professional service

Absa life is holding payment for my claim because requested them to do so even though SAPS did not have a court order authorising them to do so. How can they hold someone's money just because SAPS gave them a phone call without a wrtten authorization from the court of law. This bank is very unprofessional in its conduct, stay away from Absa. Even their call centre is crowded with a bunch of ***** they always give the reheased response " assessors will call you I have sent them a high priority email" However, assessors never call. This bank is a shame.

Please be advised that we sent an email requesting you to please provide us with the letter of authority on the estate for us to assist further.  Also, confirm if you already sent the Estate documentation to our National Deceased Division for further assistance. If so, please forward us the email sent for us to follow up with the Admin.

Good day
Firstly, I didn't receive any email from you, secondly, I didn't use a letter of authority when claiming on this policy, I am a nominated beneficiary I don't need a letter of authority to claim on this policy. You are the first one to ask for a letter of authority since September 23, 2022 I wonder what you are up to. This policy does not form part of the deceased estate because she nominated a beneficiary. Absa continues with its terrible service, you are using ecery delaying tactic at your desposal to avoid settling this policy. You come up with different reasons every week.

Dear Edwin,
Thank you for your reply.
I am a bit concerned that you are a beneficiary but have no access to the Estate account. For security reasons, I recommend that you visit your nearest Absa branch for further assistance since you do not have the letter of authority on the Estate. Thank you.

Maybe you don't even know what a letter of authority is, when it works and why. I made a review about ABSA I didn't ask for your stupid response.

Hi Edwin,

With all due respect Sir, when you are a beneficiary to an Estate, you log a claim with a business unit and submit all the required documentation including proof of your nomination as a beneficiary if available such as a Will. If the business unit validates the claim and if the beneficiary is confirmed, the payout is made to the nominated beneficiary account. If not and the claim is valid, the payout is made to the Estate account and the nominated executor submits all the required documentation to our National Deceased Division for the administrative process of the Estate to complete. When the process is complete, the funds are paid to the nominated account for the executor to have access.

Any dispute that may arise during the process will result in the funds sitting in the Estate account until the dispute is resolved and or only the nominated executor of the Estate can have access.

Kindly confirm if you have any proof of you being the beneficiary of the claim in question- and what exactly are you claiming for(funeral plan, account benefit claim, Absa Life) what claim exactly?

I am claiming ABSA life. I lodge my claim at Newcastle Mall Absa branch on September 23, 2022. Absa consultant at that branch told me that I was a nominated beneficiary she didn't give me any proof. After submitting my claim I received this ref number via sms ***. Initially Absa said my first initial was captured incorrectly as C instead of E few weeks latter they said Absa investigators were conducting internal investigation. Then they said SAPS, without a court order, requested them to hold the money. Now you're asking me to produce a proof. What is going on? Ombudsman takes over this case next week the truth will come out.
