I purchased a used SUV from Inspectacar (also known as iCar) in Centurion on 8 March 2024. The sales person did not disclose that the rear retractable boot cover was missing and when I queried it a day after taking delivery of the vehicle, I was assured that he would take it up with management and get back to me. On 15 March 2024, I went to the dealership to get a firm answer from the sales person. He escalated the matter to the financial manager at the dealership who informed me that she would take the matter up with the owner of the business. On 19 March the financial manager responded on email stating that the owner was waiting on quotes for a secondhand part and would feeback soon. I followed up on 25 March and again on 5 April, and asked for the owner's contact number as there was no concrete feedback. The financial manager informed me that she was not allowed to provide the owners contact number however provided me with his email address. I emailed the owner on 5, 8 and 12 April without any response from him. On 12 April the finance manager rep**** to my email stating that management would not be assisting with the matter.
The cost of a used rear retractable cover is approx. R8 000, for which I believe the dealership is responsible for, as it was not disclosed upon the sale of the vehicle.
