bad service on an all new level.
I bought a car from inspectacar Gezina in Pretoria on the 22nd of September 2018, a BMW 118i 2015 model. On the same day me and my husband conducted an inspection the car, made out a list of thing we were not happy with which was as follows: 1. Right hand side mirror cover which was broken 2. Right hand rear tyre that had a bubble in it 3. Scratches on the boot area 4. The spare key (that doesn’t work)we only got on the 10th of October 2018 and could not test hence we did not have car when the key was handed over to us. All of the above was discussed and we were assured that they would be repaired quickly. So the transaction was made with the bank and we took the car home with us, on the way the car alerted us that the tire pressure was low. When we got to the nearest filling station, we noted that the tyre we complained about was the one with the low pressure. I than contacted the salesman and informed him. A week later the salesman who sold us the car had a scheduled operation, which we were aware of so that when we were handed over to another salesman the transition would be smooth (this would be the person who would organise the repairs on the car). On the 10th of October the temporary registration expired. So the new salesman convinced me and my husband to drive the car back to Inspectacar Gezina where it would be taken to BMW Zambesi for a routine check such as breaks and so on. The car is still under motor plan. We drove to Inspectar Gezina on the 10th of October 2018 the salesman told us that we need to get there at 9:30 AM. When we arrived we were quickly rushed off to BMW Zambesi with a driver from the dealership. We arrived at BMW we were told that the car should have been he at 8:00 AM that morning, the time we got to BMW it was already 10:00 - 10:30 AM. Remembering the phone call made the previous day to the salesman confirming that I should arrive at 9:30 AM. In addition he requested that I send him my ID copy for a loan car in case that the car is there overnight. So BMW told us that car will have to stay till tomorrow morning, because we were late and the line was now too long. The BMW dealership than got us transport back to Inspectacar Gezina. I didn’t have a problem with leaving the car, at least we would have a loan car use when going to work. To my surprise the new salesman hand the spare key to my husband and says,” I have one of the guys to take you home!” So now I’m thinking to myself (I have left my car under the impression that that I would be getting a loan car as discussed yesterday). My husband than assured me that will make a plan, on how I would get to work the following day. We confirmed with the salesman that all the repairs would be done when the car returns from BMW. The salesman also added that the mirror cover and tyre can be stripped of another car within their dealership which is a quick fix. I than asked about the number plates since the temporary registration expired on the day, the salesman confirmed that also that would be ready. We were taken home, the following day I called in to check progress on the car. All my phone calls were in vane I than called the inspectacar Gezina directly to the office the person who answered the line told me to keep trying the salesman’s cell phone. After a relentless string of phones I called the office again and the same person answered saying the salesman will call me this is around 10: 00 AM. I finally called BMW to find out if the car was pick up or not. BMW was so helpful that they even called me back with a detailed departure time of the car from BMW, which was 08:00 AM on the 11th of October 2018. Again, I called the salesman who finally answered my call, who then **** at first that he didn’t get the car from BMW yet. After an hour I called him back and told him that I called BMW and they confirmed that car was taken from them at 08:00 AM that morning. He then told me that he wasn’t aware that the car was collected. That afternoon I called him to ask if the repairs were successfully conducted, in addition reminding him AGAIN that he said I would have my car back on that day. He then continued by saying that he’s busy with it. Just before end of business I tried to contact him in preparations of the car being delivered to me, he never answered my call. The morning of the 12th of October 2018, I called him again and asked if all the repairs were done. He then added that since it was raining the day before he could not do any of the repairs I requested. I than escalated the matter to the manager who told me she couldn’t help now I should call back. I called her back, and she told me she was aware of my requests. She than added that the car registration that expired on the 10th of October, they could not help me with that. Apparently I had to do it myself at the nearest licencing facility, and they would reimburse me. I than asked about the mirror cover, the tyre and she said all those things would have to be ordered and may take time. WOW!!! I pointed out to her that it’s been almost a month that I’ve been requesting these repairs with no action. She assured me she will look into the matter. (I Never heard from her again). I continued to call the salesman who now sounds like he didn’t promise me anything angery at the fact that they just let my car sit there for nothing! I instructed him to return my car ASAP. Only than we shall find a way forward. The car was returned to me while I was at work, I did a quick inspection and noticed absolutely nothing was done. From the 10th till the 12th of October nothing, even prior to those dates nothing. My temporary registration was replaced with another one dated 12/10/2018 to 1/11/2018. The following week after the 12th of October the original salesman returned to work. Throughout the weeks continuously called `pleading with him to get my requests done. He requested me to get a quotation of the mirror cover from a BMW dealership closest to me, I did so and sent to him. After weeks of him dodging me ,he then told me that I should just purchase the cover and they will reimburse me, also adding why am I not check s**** yards so that I could find it cheaper there. The quotation only amounted to R 1218.17. On the 1st of November 2018 the temporary registration expired, I called my original salesman who than also added that the car needs to go for a roadworthy test before registration. My husband called him once more and the salesman said we should pay for everything in regards to the registration of the car and they will reimburse us ,the total amount we paid was R 1739 which to this day has not been reimbursed to us.
On the 12th of November the same tyre we have been complaining about from day one gave up. My husband called the salesman who said that if the car passed the roadworthy test that means that everything is fine. Right now as I write this email I cannot drive the car I’m paying for because when I inflate the tyre in less than an hour its flat again. As a consequence my car is parked sitting on a rim. I have been in constant communication with Inspectacar Gezina but my words have fallen on deaf ears. Now I’m sitting with a problem that would have been avoided from day one. All my time, energy and resources wasted.
