Not worth having Motormend.

I took out a motor policy when I bought my Renault Scenic 1,9DCI Which was on the 9 / 3 / 16. This week the car developed a electrical problem. Battery was flat or went flat. I bought another battery for R1100. Next day same problem again and I found that my Radiator cooling fan was staying on. I eventually made it back home where we contacted Mtormend / Innovation group to register a claim. We were then put through to claims registration and hung on for 5 minutes phoning from Cape Town to Johannesburg which is a National call. We then made a second attempt and the same happened we were left hanging on again. We phoned the third time and we manged to get through to claims Dept. We started to speak to the person on the other end to register a claim but we also struggled to hear that person. We continued conversation and when it got to 17h00 the phone was cut off automatically as its now outside of business hours. Three phone calls wasted.

The other problem is now I am sitting with a broken car. There is no out of hours number no emergency number. So how does one register a claim when you stuck on the road somewhere?

These policies in my opinion are only money making schemes. They have my money every month but now I cant be helped when needed. So now you have my money and thats that.

I am not happy with the service at this stage. It is now going to cost me out of pocket to pay for the repair. I am going to claim the money back from them and if they dont pay me back legal procedings will be instituted against them and I will report them to the Umbutsman.

So for anybody that is thinking of taking out a policy , dont. Its a waste of money and time. You think you are covered , you are not. Wait until you have a repair, they will find some way that there is a exclusion in your policy. They will say no claim.

Beware.

This is typical with all these policies , does not matter who you take it out with. The software in your car is part of the engine management system. So by re setting the system due to errors you are actually repairing the vehicle. This is a exclusion in the policy book. So I saved somebody a lot of money by having my problem re set. Because no parts were needed my claim is thrown out. I will not be re newing my policy for my car again. Better off without it. Wasting a whole R6000 on a policy. Not worth it.
