NEGLIENT AND ***** DOCUMENTS

recently had a rejection for a claim on a component I had assumed would be covered by my warranty company . My steering lock , as I now know it , had given in and of course as per THEIR policy wording I assumed it would be covered as noted under components covered section . Unfortunately due to the company trying to get people to sign up quickly under the false misrepresentation that most of their clients concerns would be covered .

After being contacted by an advisor to tell me of the rejection , I was completely dumbstruck and decided to go over the policy document again . Initially on the sales call and the policy document "steering mechanism - all internal components of steering box or steering rack" - one would assume this would be explained in detail if they are going to reject a claim on anything to do with steering . Only after speaking to the advisor after rejection stage , do they decided to advise that the actual "steering column " (as I now know it) is not covered .

I again went through my document whilst the advisor was on the line with me and noticed that on other sections of the document the company was able to highlight and specify when something was excluded or if it app**** to a different type of vehicle (i.e a bakkie or 4x4) . This same curtesy was not done when it came to the "steering mechanism" . I continued to ask the advisor why it was not covered and he explained that the actual "steering column" is an exclusion as per their (innovation group) contract with MFC . NOW in conclusion , if this is a noted exclusion with their "contractor / supplier" clearly it should be something advised (at sales stage) or noted in the client/consumers policy schedule .
