Innovation warranty NOT covering parts under warranty/ NO response/ NO feedback

When I purchased my 2016 Mini Cooper S Automatic from SMG Tygervalley last year June, I was highly advised to take out an extended warranty (2 year/unlimited), which I in turn did.

I recently had a problem on my car where it popped up an error message, and booked the vehicle into SMG Tygervalley for diagnostics. It was then later diagnosed that the gear selector switch (common fault on a Mini and BMW) needed to be replaced. I was then later told that this part is NOT covered under my warranty, and I had to pay for the bill myself.

My question is:- * When an error message pops up on my dash, and the first thing it says is "Transmission"; a transmission is a gearbox, and from the policy I signed, I have unlimited cover on my gearbox. * No where in the policy does it state that it does not cover this specific part (Gear selector switch). * Why was I highly advised to take out a warranty, that will in turn cover little, to nothing, when repairs need to be done, knowing full well that this is a common Mini or BMW fault.

I have received little to no feedback from Innovation regarding this, and have been in contact with Sean Russel at Innovation, who has been pretty useless at answering my queries, or sorting out my problem.

To this day, no feedback. I have been in the motor trade for 10 years, and I know cars break all the time, but that being said, took out a warranty for peace of mind. Doesn't seem to be the case.
