Innovation Group Refusing to Cover Mandatory ADAS Calibration on Volvo XC90 Claim

I am extremely disappointed in the way Innovation Group is handling my motor warranty claim. Vehicle: 2017 Volvo XC90 Warranty Administrator: Innovation Group Innovation authorised the replacement of both left and right front control arms. However, they are now refusing to pay for the mandatory radar (ADAS) calibration required after suspension work. For those who understand modern vehicles: The XC90 uses Volvo’s IntelliSafe (ADAS) system which controls: • Adaptive cruise control • Automatic emergency braking • Lane keeping assist • Steering assistance • Self-parking Suspension repairs directly affect ride height and alignment. Volvo manufacturer guidelines clearly state that radar recalibration is required after control arm replacement. If you don’t recalibrate, the safety systems may malfunction. Innovation’s position is that calibration is not covered — yet: • ADAS/radar systems are NOT specifically excluded in the policy wording. • Calibration is not an “upgrade” — it is a required reinstatement procedure. • Without calibration, the approved repair is incomplete. They are effectively authorizing a repair but refusing to restore the vehicle to proper working condition. On top of that, they are also refusing to cover the oil level sensor recalibration. This vehicle does not have a mechanical dipstick — oil level is electronically displayed via the onboard system. It is an electronic component, not wear and tear. Both items are not listed as exclusions and after explaining to the claims handler that the radar controls everything they cover in their policy wording he still said that calibration is not covered. This feels like selective interpretation of policy wording and not applying Treating Customers Fairly (TCF) principles. If calibration is not excluded in the wording, how can it suddenly be excluded as a “method”? The policy is silent on this, which makes the refusal questionable. The agent did not even understand when I told him if its not a specific exclusion it cannot be excluded as it is a grey area open for interpretation. Consumers need to understand that with modern vehicles, calibration is part of the repair process. You cannot replace suspension components on advanced vehicles and ignore ADAS recalibration. They must be careful when dealing with Innovation on a warrantee claim. Consumers deserve transparency and fair treatment. Please Innovation don’t send an auto response as is the norm.
