Pressurized Selling of Ink Cartridges - False Info from Call Centre Agent

I did a survey sometime back and cannot remember when in regard to ink cartridges. approximately 2 to 3 weeks ago I received a call from, I presume a call centre agent ,who thanked me for the survey and said that as a thank you his CEO would like to send me a gift voucher. Well automatically I said thank you. He asked which retail shop I prefer shopping at and I rep**** checkers. He then asked me would I be interested in a cartridge and I said yes but it would depend on the costs as we use compatibles at about 3 every months or so but that I needed to check this out. I was advised by the gentleman in question that I need not pay for it and can take up to 3 months and that if I did not want it that it would be fine to return. He also advised me that someone would call me and confirm delivery address and price with me. During this time at no time was I given names or contact details of the person I spoke to or was going to speak to.

I did get a telephone call from a gentleman named Michael who confirmed the price etc with me and told me my checkers voucher would be in the box. I then did not hear from them or receive a parcel from the company for about two weeks and must admit I was quite relieved and hoped that nothing would come of it, as once again I did not have the contact details of the company. Well low and behold a parcel arrived last week. I immediately got on the phone to advise the Michael that I did not want the cartridge and that no one had given me a telephone number at the time of the first call to phone and cancel as the cartridge is too expensive. I advised Michael that I would return the parcel and he told me that I cannot as they do not accept returns. When I advised him that I will not pay for it he said to me "suit yourself". I then put the voucher and invoice back in the box and left it packed away.

Today 21.07.2017 at 12h15 I get a call from Michael asking me "Did you receive your parcel?" This was quite astounding as he was so rude to me the last time. I told him I did and that if he remembered I told him I did not want it and when I reminded him of what I had said previously, he said he has incurred costs and that he is going to list the practice on ITC as a slow payer etc.

Really we go through 1 compatible cartridge every 6 months at R 489.00 per month why would I want to pay R 1704.30 for a new one for a small practice.

Needless to say I have not used the voucher as I feel it would be tantamount to ******ion and me accepting a backhand for buying the cartridge.

What do I do now

I am going to inform my boss of what has happened and then we can respond accordingly. However I strongly feel that this needs to be reported as we all have the right to return a product we do not need or want provided it has not been used.....it is standard.

I have completed the forms and submitted all documents to the Consumer Protection Act. We are now being harrassed for payment and the attitude of the company is unacceptable.
