Refusing to repay my deposit

Paid my deposit in good faith for a cycling event to be held, starting from the hotel. And when the race was postponed to some time in 2022 the hotel refused to refund my deposit. This is unacceptable as we travel from Gauteng and have no idea if or when we will be able to travel to White River again.
