Dear Hellopeter Today I write this complaint with such a sad & heavy heart as the above patient(my brother) has since passed away. The below nursing care agency was assigned to take care of his daily needs as he was paralysed on his righthand side & had global aphasia after a 22hour operation near the brain to remove cancer, however, unfortunately sustained a stroke. This patient was unable to assist himself at all & needed 24hour care. We appointed the below company to provide 24hour nursing aid for him, but they were so ********* & rude when issues were raised with them. -they sent untrained caregivers, who did not even know how to manage a peg (this was agreed upon before them coming aboard & the owner of the business, (Ven)went to the rehab centre where he was previously, & trained a staff member, whom she never ever used to attend to Dr Adams. -due to him being so ill, his blood pressure, sugar levels needed to be monitored & the care givers were not trained accordingly. -unfortunately, we did not install cameras where he was , but we found that quite a few items of value went missing & when the subject was addressed with the owner, she cut the call. - two days before Christmas, her caregiver was very ill & due to us not wanting her to infect the patient, she went to the doctor & was unable to return due to her illness. I tried on numerous occasions to contact both the business partners to send a replacement & also sent whatsapp messages to this effect & was told days later ”Why did you let her go” Needless to say, one cannot have a very ill person exposed to more infection &, in terms & conditions of the contract, they were supposed to send a replacement, but instead they phoned the caregiver to tell her not to return. Their fees were paid upfront, so they felt that it was fit to leave a very sick man abandoned without caregiving. The manner in which they conducted themselves, was not fit & proper & no apology was forthcoming, hence me now trying to ensure that nobody else is faced with a similar experience. Having a very ill person is stressful enough ,but having to put up with extra burdens during that time was very frustrating. Dr Adams spent most of his days in hospital & the caregivers went home on those days, but we still had to pay the full fee. They did however give us a small refund one month when he was hardly at home for caregiving from R10200 to R7500 after negotiations.
