Stole my courier to South Africa and are not taking any responsibility

<p>I wanted to send an express courier through Speed Post India to my daughter in South Afrcia as she needed her used jacket urgently (it was winter there) and her table lamp (as her final exams were going to start). I went to Post Office at Safdarjung Enclavewith all custom declarations already filled and stuff packed perfectly - they refused to accept it. Reason - the package was not covered with a cloth bag and sealed with Lak (150 year old british system). My justifications - all of which were rejected by the Post Master were:</p> <p>1. This requirment is not mentioned on their website - only that it should be in a card board pack</p> <p>2. I have been sending through Speed Post to US while in Mumbai before this - rules are standard so why this new un-offical guidelines (must be getting kickbacks from the cloth packers who sit outside the Post Office)</p> <p>3. The package will anyway be opened up at the Indian Customs before shipping - so the expensive cloth cover will anyway be removed - so why put?</p> <p> </p> <p>I had wasted one half of a day there. Next day I took another half day leave and now went to the further away big Post Office at Hazuz Khas, spent about Rs. 500 on cloth packing done infomrally by a tailor outside the building, stood in a line for 2 hours and paid Rs. 5000 and sent off the package through Express Post on 10th May (No: ED ********** 84IN), to my daughter Mehak Ahal at Univeristy of Cape Town, Rondebosh, Cape Town -7701, South Africa, I was told it will reach in 7 -10 days.</p> <p>Ten days and it hadn't reached her. When tracking with the registration on on their website, it said - this package does not exist - I have a printed hard copy receipt of their acceptance of my payment and receiving it from me.</p> <p> </p> <p>I called up the Post Office International Post departments - nobody would pick up the phone for hours. Finally one day a lady picked up listend and said you go back to the Hauz Khas Post Office and start the process from there. I took another half day and went to Hauz Khas - they couldn't locate the details in their own systems first, then after 2 hours they found evidence that it had been sent to their Internatioal Section (which had refused this on the phone). The Post Master took my number and promised to call me - it's been three weeks now!</p> <p> </p> <p>So it's two months now - my daughter never got the stuff and suffered the winters. The stuff is gone, I have spent about Rs. 5500 on top of it and so much time - and nobody in the Indian Post Office Section is willing to answer and be responsble - and the Government wants these people to now start taking up deliveries for Amazon etc. - watch out consumers - we are ruined for good!!</p>
