Unfair treatment/***** sale of a broken TV set
I would like to report unfair treatment/***** and/or breach of Legislation and your policies by your Liberty Midlands Mall branch in Pietermaritzburg. We bought a TV. Initially we wanted the 55 inch JVC but the consultant and yhe Branch Manager convinved us to buy a Curved JVC. We agreed trusting their advices.
When we got home and connected the TV it could not turn on. The following day,it was returned to the store. They gave us another TV of the same make. When we got home the second TV had a line and did not reflect a picture. the following day it was returned to the store and no damage was identified by the consultants. This was well within the 14 day period, therefore a refund was requested as we no longer had faith in the stock. They refused and said they will send it for repair and made us wait for around 14 days.
No one called us with progress. When we went to enquire at the store we were told to wait for the manager who was on study leave and were told that the TV would be returned to the supplier. When we webt there the week thereafter the Branch Managet informed us that "there was a thumb print which led to the damage". We dispute that this was caused by us. Furthermore, if this TV set was this delicate, we would not even have bought it as that is not what we initially wanted. Now they are claiming that they won't return the R9000 paid or fix the TV. We have paid but do not have a TV. How is possible to get such treatment from such a well established company. Especially when initially we did not want to buy that brand. Now we are convinced that they were getting rid of their problems with us. This is contrary to legislation and your policies and ****************.
