The Epitome of how not to make sales

First off, I don't usually complain, and it takes a lot to upset me enough to take the time to write a review. So please bear this in mind when reading this review. I went into the Canal Walk branch to buy a laptop (I only had 3 criteria - it must have a backlit keyboard; it must be an Asus and must be in the R8000 bracket) on Friday 16th Aug. As I was browsing the laptops, I was approached by Emelio, whom, as it turns out, has very little knowledge regarding the products he sells. When we were discussing the various options, Emelio showed an I7 Asus Vivobook with a Harmon Kardon Sound system and a back lit keyboard, which would've been perfect for my needs except it was outside my budget. When i told him it was outside my budget, he asked for a few minutes to go and see what else he could find. A few minutes turned into about 20 minutes, when he returned, he informed me that they didn't have the laptop in stock however, the one he had found was of the exact specification of the Display model he had shown me except it had an I3 chip. I reconfirmed this with him, and he reassured me that it had a backlit keyboard and the Harmon Kardon sound setup. I could collect it at the N1 City branch (whom I must say have excellent customer service and are to be commended for their role in this palaver) as they were the only branch that had stock of this particular model. Now this would not ordinarily irk me too much but was an inconvenience. I asked whether they could transfer the item to their store as it would be more convenient and was told that this was not possible unless I was prepared to wait until the following Tuesday (which I couldn't). Thus, I agreed to go and pick it up from the N1 City Branch. This was around 18h30 so it was already late in the day. I drove to N1 City and collected the laptop and drove home to Fish Hoek. The following day I proudly took out my new laptop and began the setup process only to discover the laptop had neither the backlit keyboard nor the Harmon Kardon sound system. Instead, it had a normal keyboard and a SonicMaster sound setup. I immediately called Emelio who said he was very confused as it had a chiclet keyboard which meant that it was backlit (um... what? A chiclet keyboard has nothing to do with backlighting and refers to the size and shape of the actual keys on the keyboard.) He then asked if he could call me back to see what he could do. I waited 45 minutes. When he eventually did call back, he informed me that he had found a similar Ryzen 5 system which had everything he shown me on the demo model originally. The catch being that it was a demo model, but it had only been on display for 2 weeks. This system was at no other than the N1 City Branch. Again, an interbranch transfer was not on the cards. So, I told him fine I would make then journey to collect the laptop on Sunday the 18th of August. At this point, I rechecked that I would actually be getting what he sold and what I expected to which he reconfirmed and reassured me that this was it and all was in order. On the way to N1 City I sent a voice note to Emelio to let N1 City that I was on my way and to please have everything ready for collection. Given Emelio's general lack luster approach to things, I also called N1 City for the same purpose. I arrived at N1 City just shy of closing time for their branch and was met by Imaan who was busy completing the system reset and getting everything in order. Her approach was amazing, she was friendly and efficient and had good product knowledge as well as a great personality and I immediately liked her. During our conversation it came out the Emelio had said to her that I no longer wished to deal with the Canal Walk Branch (hence the reason I had to go to N1 City), which was not true at all. I never said any such thing. Then during the repackaging of the new laptop I was asked whether I knew about the scratches on it. I did not. And now I was infuriated, truly infuriated. Michale, a salesman at N1 City said that he had rechecked that Emelio had transferred this fact to me and Emelio had assured him that I knew all about it. I most emphatically did not. I was then told that there was a delivery service, and that Imaan couldn't understand why this facility was never offered, as I had complained about having to drive so far to do the collection.

So my total experience can be summed up as follows: I had a salesman who has virtually no product knowledge I was **** to about stock availability and collections I was cheated out of what was actually sold to me I have spent hundreds between phone calls and fuel and time N1 City Branch has been **** to regarding my knowledge of the system i was collecting All to have a second hand (demo) model with one of the features used as a selling point missing.

As a side note which i have overlooked, the Branch manager from Canal Walk was less than interested in dealing with me in any manner and was more than rude in her demeanor and general approach. I stand under correction however I am certain her name was Priscilla.

This has got to be one of the worst sales experiences I have ever had. I am hoping that Mr. Anthony Harris will respond directly to me regarding this experience.
