My partner bought me a hard drive for R1400 Seagate External hard drive 1T.

I hardly used this thing. It sat as an ordiment as we have another with movies on it.

This was for back up for all documentation and photos etc.

3 or 4 months later this thing starts ticking when I needed to copy all of it off (Just in case).

So turns out its clearly broken.

We were moving so it was packed away until we could get time to sort it out.

I hoped it would also just work one day as it had my whole life on this thing, pictures of My pregnancy. My chemotherapy. My operation. Pictures with my sister who moved to London.

Shattered is the best word to use.

We took it back to Incredible Connection.

They apparently sent it away to see if they could retrieve any data off of it back to the manufactorers (Seagate).

Only to be told nothing could be done and they could not fix it (Seagate have a moto on their website they cal retrieve anything, you would think they could retrieve my personal information off a hard drive they designed).

I was given a contact number for a company called Southbit who could actually retrieve the data, we did go see them but becuase it was going to cost an additional 2-4 grand it was best to say good bye.

I mean thats a lot of money and plus that meant our warrenty would not stand if we opened it or got someone to help us retrieve the data by opening it.

(Which again, it didnt break due to something I had done) apparently this type of hard drive has been giving many issues and many people have come to return it. Southbit claimed about 400 of these exact hard drives had come to them in the last 6 months.

To top it off we waited for them to contact us back as we wanted a refund. (Why on earth would I want to purchase something from their store which they knew was giving issues but because its more money they fool you into getting it anyway).

Also what makes it worse is Seagate didnt contact me back nor help keep to their moto.

My partner has changed bank accounts. So a refund today caused an issue at hand because apparently Fica have put something in place that you cannot return money into a different account even if you can prove it. You instead get a lovely little voucher for any Incredible Connection store.

How pathetic? As if I would like to buy something from this store? Another hard drive to be poorly reminded how we had to email and ask what was happening in order for us to be refunded. It wasnt an issue when we brought it in. And we had told them that he had changed bank accounts. But hey stuck with a voucher at this damn shop again.

To all those out there, please becarefull that you dont get swinddled into buying something you think because more expensive means better. Also make sure you keep all your reciepts and dont buy this hard drive! Careful if you have changed bank accounts because it seems to only clash at the end. Careful when paying on card!!

Sometimes businesses dont look after you. It helps if you spend more money there as their comission goes up. Will not go to Incredible Connection again. After I spend my vouvher I guess! Pathetic!
