Not so Incredible - Warranty does not cover factory faults

I purchased an Asus VivoBook Flip Core i7 Notebook from Incredible Connection 03 April 2019. 30 March 2020, the right hinge on the laptop was completely stuck, which you cannot tell if the laptop is closed, when i opened the laptop the hinge was still stuck in place but broke the screen. I couldn't do much but wait for lockdown to end so I could give in the laptop to be repaired, as clearly it was a fault, as how can one hinge be frozen whilst the other free, also take into consideration that this laptop was used maximum 30 times in the year.

I retrieved my 3 year warranty, went to Incredible and was advised that this was wear and tear, I mean the laptop was still brand new, and they had the audacity to say wear and tear, if that was the case why would it affect one side? They said the hinge would be fixed but not the screen, honestly I didn't care much for the broken screen, i just wanted the hinge fixed, which they accepted and took the laptop and sent it to Johannesburg to have the hinge replaced.

2 weeks later I get a call to say they cannot place the hinge as the hinge and screen are one unit and to repair to laptop would cost me R9, 000.00, the laptop was R15, 999.00 when purchased a year ago.

What is the point of have a 3 year warranty that doesn't cover factory defects? I got an independent IT company to look at the laptop and they gave a letter to Incredible stating that it was in deed a factory defect, he further stated that this laptop shouldn't be repaired but replaced, yet I still indicated I don't mind if they repair the laptop. Which they failed to comply and gave me back my laptop without doing a thing.

This is the last time I support them
